Cognizable crime rate increases in AP
Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) The top police officials today informed Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that there was a marginal increase of 2.77 per cent in the total cognizable crime during this year in the State.
Reviewing the law and order situation with the officials here, Dr Reddy was informed that rape, kidnapping and crime against women showed an upward trend in the State.
However, incidents of dacoities decreased by 25.76 per cent, burglaries by 7.57 per cent and riots by 29.53 per cent.
The violence resorted to by the maoists, especially the intimidatory and terrorist tactics, were dealt effectively, he was informed.
Dr Reddy lauded the efforts of police for peaceful conduct of the festivals like Ganesh Nimajjan, Ramzan, Dasara and the World Military Games.
The Chief Minister directed the police to further bring down the crime rates and alerted the police against the increased maoist activities in Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
