two killed, 8 hurt as bus rams into lorry

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) Two persons were killed and eight seriously injured when a State Transport Corporation bus hit a container lorry near Guduvancherry on the outskirts of the city this morning.

Police said the bus was coming here from Vriddachalam in Cuddalore District when the container lorry carrying wooden logs came to a screeching halt after one of the tyres burst.

The bus, which was coming behind, hit the lorry killing Karthikeyan (37) and Santosh Kumar (24) on the spot. The injured were admitted to the Government Hospital at Chengalpattu.

Police arrested the driver of the bus and investigation was underway.
