Sugar prices rise on brisk bulk consumers demand
Navi Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices recovered smartly today on sustained heavy bulk consumers demand coupled with lack of offers by stockists in view of larger arrival of stocks from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.
Prices of small and medium grades (per quintal) rose by Rs ten and Rs 15 respectively due to better bulk consumers demand.
Sugar in ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also gained by Rs 10 each owing to increase in offers by stockists, traders said.
Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,356/1,396, Medium grade: Rs 1,395/1,500.
Ex-mill mall grade: Rs 1,330/1,360, Medium grade: Rs 1,385/1400.
