Quake shakes Jammu and Kashmir along Indo-China Border

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook Indo-China border area in Jammu and Kashmir today but no damage or injuries were reported, officials said.

The epicentre of the earthquake, which occurred at about 1220 hrs, was 35.8 degrees North latitude and 76.9 degrees East Longitude, Indian Meteorological Department officials said.

In October 2005, a temblor measuring 7.6 on the Richter Scale, rattled Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, claiming scores of lives and causing large-scale destruction.
