Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh today said the JD (S) seemed to be heading for a split following efforts by Former Home Minister M P Prakash to form a new coalition government with the help of the Congress.

Mr Singh told reporters here that Mr Prakash had already submitted a list of JD(S) legislators supporting him to join hands with the Congress and the matter was under consideration by the party High Command.

''The JD (S) seems to have been split if one looks at the developments taking place after the Centre imposed the President's rule in the state,'' he added.

Mr Singh said AICC President Sonia Gandhi would take the final decision on whether to accept the offer of support by the JD (S) faction headed by Mr Prakash or seek fresh mandate after she returned from China.

The party would consider the demand of its MLAs to hold a Congress Legislature Party meeting in view of the ongoing political developments.
