EB employees observe fast to press demands

Puducherry, Oct 26 (UNI) Braving downpour the joint action committee of the electricity department employees here observed a fast in front of the head office today to press their 17-point charter of demands.

They were demanding, among other things, amendment to the recrutiment rule which remained unchanged for the last 16 years and provision of risk allowance.

Meanwhile, the students of a private BEd college here resorted to a road blockade demanding action against the college principal, who allegedly slapped a girl student yesterday.

After the police intervened and pacified the students, they called off the stir and took out a procession from their college to the Bishop House and submitted a memorandum seeking a change of principal.
