Patna, Oct 26 (UNI) The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) today demanded ban on the BJP and any "communal" organisation following diclosure of Tehelka about their involvement in 2002 communal riot in Gujarat.

In a release here, chief spokesman of BPCC Prem Chandra Mishra said the sting operation, carried out by tehelka.com, had proved the charges, levelled against leaders of the BJP and any "communal" organisation on their involvement in the communal riot, which erupted after the Godhra incident in Gujarat.

'' It is appalling to note that BJP leaders, including Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, has not only instigated for engineering communal riot but they also protected the accused through government machinaries and other means, '' Mr Mishra remarked.

BJP MLA Haresh Bhatt and some leaders of the VHP had accepted their involvement in the riot before camera in the sting operation and action should be initiated against them after institution of criminal cases, he demanded.

If Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wanted to maintain his secular credential, he should immediately sever relation with the BJP and remove all its leaders from his Cabinet, Mr Mishra suggested.
