Bandh to protest killings affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) A sudden declaration of a bandh by the Kuki Students Organisation partially affected life in Manipur today.

The bandh was called to protest the killing of two Manipur Rifles personnel on Wednesday.

However, business establishments and offices were closed, today being a holiday in view of a local festival.

Imphal East Police Commondos had allegedly shot dead an MR jawan and another was feared dead in an incident.

KSO president P Simte said they had demanded a judicial probe into the killing.

Meanwhile, police said about 100 goods-carrying trucks were stranded at Senapati ground on National Highway 39 following imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways, NH 39 and 53, by Thadou Students Association(TSA), Sadar Hills since wee hours of October 23. They are demanding proper infrastructure for the educational institutes at Sadar Hills in Senapati district.
