Andaman LG suggests modifying PIC

Port Blair, Oct 26 (UNI) Lt Governor, Lt General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh today said the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, scheduled to be held from November 19 to 23 be suitably modified keeping in mind the local conditions.

Speaking to a team of local heads of the Central government's media units, he advised them to be practical in their approach towards awareness generation.

''Central schemes which are aimed at the common man must also be suitably modified to apply to the local conditions. Basic needs of the common man must not be lost sight of while launching the Public Information Campaign,'' Singh told the meeting.

The Lt Governor advised that the topics chosen for the seminars should be current ones. Female foeticide, Aam Aadmi Bima Yojna, employment generation schemes, which needed greater awareness, would be apt topics for the seminars, he suggested.

He asked the heads of the DDK and the AIR to submit a list of their requirements so that these may be taken up with the Ministry in the larger interest of an overall improvement in the quality of the programmes.
