Cabon dioxide levels rising
New Delhi, Oct 24, 2007 : An alarming new study points out that atmospheric carbon dioxide is increasing faster than expected.
According to a research by Josep G. Canadell, of Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, carbon dioxide emissions were 35 percent higher in 2006 than in 1990, a much faster growth rate than anticipated. As per the study, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels climbed an average of 1.93 parts per million or ppm between 2000 and 2006 compared to an annual growth rate of 1.58 during the 1980s and 1.49 ppm in the 1990s.
