250 million phone users now in India

New Delhi, Oct 24, 2007: India, reportedly the world's fastest growing telecom industry, has achieved its target of 250 million telephone connections two months ahead of the December-end schedule.

The total number of wireless subscribers in the country — including GSM, CDMA and fixed mobile — has reached 209.08 million and the tele-density stood at 21.85 per cent as on September 30 this year.
