SHO Moga nabbed for threatening man with slapping false case

Moga, Oct 24 (UNI) Police today arrested inspector Amarjit Singh, SHO, Moga (Div I) for threatening a man of dragging him in a sex-scandal, if he failed to meet the SHO's demand for money.

The inspector was later produced in the court of CJM Moga. The court remanded him to judicial custody till November 7.

The case under corruption act was registered against the inspector on the direction on of ADGP (law and order) Chander Shekhar after a police probe confirmed the charges made by the victim Ranjit Singh.

SSP Moga L K Yadav told media persons here that Ranjit Singh of Bhagike had complained to ADGP alleging that Amarjit demanded Rs 50,000 from him on June 0ne and threatened of otherwise implicating him falsely in a sex racket case.

According to FIR, Ranjit Singh recorded the entire conversation and also made a CD of the interactions in this case.

He handed the CD and tapes to the ADGP, who enstrusted Bhupinder Singh, DSP Baghapurana, with the responsibility of probing into the matter.

The probe concluded that the allegations against the inspector police were well established.

Moga district police then got the orders through DIG police Ferozepur Range, to arrest the tainted police inspector, the SSP said.
