Rain in catchment areas, level in Mettur dam increasing

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 24 (UNI) Thanks to continous rain in the catchment areas, the inflow into the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across River Cauvery was increasing.

With an inflow of 31,902 cusecs this morning, the level in the dam stood at 109.220 ft. The discharge was 6,845 cusecs, PWD sources here said.

Meanwhile, the town and its suburbs experienced heavy rain since yesterday.

Nandiyar in the district recorded the maximum rainfall of 70 mm followed by Tirumanur 65 mm, Pullambadi 62.4, Lalgudi 56, Tiruchirapalli Airport 55, Grand Anicut 53.6, Tiruchirapalli Town 47.8, Samayapuram 43.6, Musiri 37.4 and Kulithalai 26 mm.
