Itanagar, Oct 24: The carcass of a full-grown pregnant barking deer was seized from a motorcycle borne poachers by the forest guards at Poma range check gate near here on Oct 24.

As the two motor cyclists were carrying a gunny bag, the guards led by deputy forest ranger (DFR) Gymar Tada stopped them. When the guards were frisking the motorcyclists fled leaving behind the two-wheeler and the bag in which a fresh carcass of the barking deer, a species protected under Wildlife Protection Act 1972, was found. The two were yet to be arrested.
