NIE, ARTI sign MoU for R

Mysore, Oct 24 (UNI) The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) and Appropriate Rural Technology Institute (ARTI), Pune today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here for carrying out research, development and dissemination programmes on renewable energy and sustainable technologies.

Talking to newspersons here, NIE Centre for Research and Consultancy (NIE-CRC) Director Shamsundar said the NIE-CRC and, in particular, NIE Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (NIE crest) would be working with ARTI, in developing and implementing renewable and sustainable technologies.

NIE crest was working on sustainable technologies in collaboration with ARTI and it would popularise technologies such as fuel efficient 'chulas' for cooking, biomass-based dryers, kitchen waste-based biogas plant, charcoal-based fuel efficient cooker, 'charcoaling' technology and solar power plants.

These products would serve as an instrument for sustainable rural development through the application of science and technology, he added.
