Intense poll campaigning for Lanji by-election

Bhopal, Oct 24 (UNI) In the run-up to assembly by-election in Lanji constituency of Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh, election campaign is becoming more intense with several high-profile leaders visiting the place.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar and other senior leaders are fiercely campaigning for the BJP.

On the other hand, state Congress President Subhash Yadav and other senior leaders are pitching hard for their party.

Congress party's Madhya Pradesh Incharge General Secretary V Narayan Sami and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh were there today and addressed five public meetings. Union Minister Kamal Nath would reach on October 27.

Earlier, SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav and senior leader Amar Singh visited the constituency to canvass votes for their party nominee.

Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) President Uma Bharti would campaign for her party candidate on October 26.

The major fight is between the BJP and the Congress. The BJP has fielded Ms Dhareshwari Bhatere, wife of former minister late Dilip Bhatere, who represented Lanji constituency.

The by-election was necessitated by untimely death of Mr Bhatere. Polling would be held on October 30, while counting would take place on November 3.
