Haryana Roadways to have 774 new buses

Chandigarh, Oct 24 (UNI) As many as 774 new buses will be added to the Haryana Roadways fleet during the current financial year, Transport Minister Mange Ram Gupta said today.

Of these, 579 buses are fmeant for replacement of old buses and 195 will be an addition to the fleet which had a strength of 3500 buses, he said.

Mr Gupta said that with a view to improve the bus services in the state, the Haryana Roadways was planning to increase the strength of AC buses, Haryana Uday CNG buses and Haryana Gaurav buses. Besides, efforts were on to purchase semi-low floor buses in the state for the convenience of the commuters.

Of these, 160 would be CNG buses and 80 would be semi low floor buses which would be exclusively used to improve the public transportation system of various towns and cities of the state.

He said 15 air-conditioned low floor CNG buses would also be purchased for the local operation in Gurgaon. He said these buses would be plied between Gurgaon and Delhi. Five such buses would be put into service very soon.

A provision of Rs five crore had also been made for the construction of new modern bus stands with modern concept design at various places in the state during the current financial year, he said.

The Haryana Roadways was making persistent efforts to provide all improved transport facilities to the people of the state.
