BEML bags Rs 648 cr contract from NCL

Bangalore, Oct 24: BEML Ltd, the public sector giant in Earth Moving and Construction, has bagged a contract worth Rs 648 Crore from Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Singrauli, for supply and servicing of three 20 Cum Electric Rope Shovels.

The contract includes Rs 160 Crore towards equipment supply and Rs 488 Crore towards servicing for a period of 17 years. These shovels will be manufactured at BEML's Kolar Gold Fields complex, a company release said here today.

The Rope Shovels would be serviced from BEML's existing Service Centre at Singrauli, which will be expanded to carry out service contract. All the Rope shovels would be supplied during 2008-09 and service contract starting from 2009-10.

BEML also has established a Joint Venture for contract mining for improving further its mining equipment business.
