Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the officials to prepare an 'Action Plan' to bring all drylands, including the Banjar lands possessed by SC and ST communities, under the massive 'Jalayagnam' programme, for providing irrigation water.

Reviewing progress of construction of big, medium and small irrigation projects and lift irrigation schemes with officials here, Dr Reddy said the 'Tadipudi Lift Project', which would be inaugurated tomorrow in West Godavari district, would provide irrigation water to the lands owned by SC and ST families.

Stating that his government has taken up the long pending Polavaram Project on the Godavari, Dr Reddy said the project would provide drinking and irrigation water to North Andhra and Telangana regions.

''The government targets to provide water to 40 lakh acres of land by 2009,'' he said, adding that 11.5 lakh acres were brought under irrigation for the last three years in the state.
