24-hour National Highway 17 bandh in Udupi from Oct 30

Udupi, Oct 24 (UNI) A 24 hour National Highway No 17 bandh call had been given by the Save National Highway 17 Committee today in protest against alleged apathy by the Union Ministry of Surface Transport to repair the Highway passing through the Udupi district in Karnataka.

Announcing this at the press conference here, Convener of the Committee B Govindraj Hegde said that however, the bandh from 0700 hrs on October 30 to 0700 on October 31 would not affect essential services.

The vehicles would not be allowed to ply from Shiroor, on the northern border of the district to Hejamady, the border on the southern side. More than 24 junctions have been identified on the national highway for stopping any vehicles and people would be allowed to conduct Bhajans, Music and playing on the national highway.
