Youth killed, 16 injured in accident

Panipat, Oct 23 (UNI) A youth was killed and 16 others injured when a mini bus in which they were travelling hit a truck near Machhroli village on National Highway No 1 in the district today.

According to police sources, the accident occurred when the private mini tourist bus, which was on its way from Ludhiana to Delhi, while trying to overtake the truck, hit it in the rear.

In the accident, 21-year-old Daleep Shukla of Ludhiana died on the spot while 16 passengers got injured. The injured were rushed to local civil hospital and later discharged after treatment.

Police impounded the bus. However, the bus driver was still absconding.
