Villagers foil abduction bid in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 23 (UNI) People foiled an abduction bid in central Kashmir district of Badgam today.

Police said four armed men tried to kidnap a local, Khurshid Ahmad Wagay, from his residence at Fries Dab near Charar-e-Sharief town in Badgam district.

However, the villagers saw Wagay being taken away and chased away the kidnappers, thus averting the abduction bid.

While fleeing from the spot, the armed men lobbed a hand grenade towards the villagers, police added.

However, the grenade did not explode.

Police have registered a case in this regard.
