Tributes paid to J P Mathur

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Tributes were today paid to senior BJP leader Jagdish Prasad Mathur with top party leaders recalling their long association with him since the erstwhile Jana Sangh days.

At a meeting organised at the party headquarters to condole Mathur's death, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani said people in public life would have to take lessons from Mathur, who worked selflessly for the organisation.

Former BJP President Murli Manohar Joshi asked the party to come out with biographies of dedicated party leaders like Mathur and Kushabhau Thakre for the party workers to emulate. Suresh Soni of the RSS and Delhi BJP President Dr Harshvardhan remembered the ''ever smiling Mathur battling cancer'', which he was diagnosed with in 1998.

Several BJP leaders including a number of mediapersons attended the meeting.
