TN closes down 132 Tasmac shops

Chennai, Oct 23 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has ordered closing down of 132 Tasmac shops, selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), as they were located close to schools, colleges and places of worship.

An official release here today said these shops, including 22 in the city zone, 13 in Coimbatore, 32 in Madurai, 33 in Salem and 32 in Tiruchirapalli were closed down yesterday in interests of students and general public.

Apart from this, 82 shops had been closed down in the last six months, following objections from the general public, the release said.

The government is running 6,700 Tasmac shops throughout the country.
