SYM march to allow global airlines operate from Karipur Airport

Kozhikode, Oct 23 (UNI) Kerala-based Muslim outfit, Solidarity Youth Movement (SYM) will take out a march on November 10 to Karipur in protest against the government's ''failure'' to permit foreign airlines to operate from the International Airport.

Accusing the government of ''step motherly'' treatment to Karipur, SYM President P Mujeeb Rehman said foreign airlines were already operating from relatively smaller airports like Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

To protect state-owned Air India and India, the authorities were not taking steps to install Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the airport leading to inordinate delay in launching international flights from Karipur, he alleged.

Due to this, many workers employed in the West Asia lost their jobs in the recent past as they could not rejoin duty after their leave period ended, Mr Rehman claimed.

The SYM Chief also threatened to initiate legal action against the government on behalf of the 'victims.' UNI
