Nepal Army would not stage coup: CoAS
Kathmandu, Oct 23 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rujmangad Katwal today said the Nepal Army (NA) would not stage a coup under any circumstances.
Terming speculation that the Army might stage a coup as baseless rumours, CoAS insisted that the army was already integrated into the democratic system.
Speaking to representatives of civic society at Amardal battalion of the army at Khandbaari barrack in Sankhuwasabha district, he made it clear that the NA would obey orders of Nepal government line by line, Kantipur reported.
He also stated that the current political impasse was the result of not allowing the late King Mahendra and Nepali Congress leader B P Koirala to unite.
However, he did not mention reasons for them not uniting.
