Medical transcription offer better career

Bangalore, Oct 23(UNI) Medical Transcription, one of the fastest growing fields in healthcare sector is emerging as one of the top lucrative paying career especially for housewives, retired persons and disabled who can earn their livelihood from their house itself.

Mr Sachin Dev Thilak, Operations Manager, Shadows Infotech Private Limited, which is engaged in offering training courses on Medical Transcription (MT) told newsmen here today that in the United States the entire healthcare industry was based on Insurance which needs a detailed medical records for processing Insurance claims.

"As a result of MT's are in high demand in US and cost of getting the job was very high, it has opened up a new vista of opportunity in India for outsourcing the work" he added.

He said the MT service could range from a small home-based business to sophisticated high-tech organizations which employ large number of transcriptionists, proofers, QA and other related works, other countries than US and British are also venturing into it.

Mr Sachin said that to become a good MT one needs good listening, language skills, knowledge of medical terms, fluency in English with understanding of the American way of speech and accent was a must.

He said that more and more institutions offering education program to meet the requirement of MT were coming up and has become a thriving enterprise. "Most of these companies have inhouse training programs so that the traineees are assured of the jobs at the end of their course" he added.
