Marijuana worth Rs 19 lakh seized in Yavatmal

Nagpur, Oct 23 (UNI) Police seized 648 kilograms of marijuana (ganja) worth Rs 19 lakh from a van and arrested the driver in Yavatmal district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The driver, identified as Sheikh Yunus Sheikh Sardurajuddin, is a resident of Nizamabad district in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, the van was intercepted on a tip-off in village Patan in the district last evening. The marijuana was being transported in 56 bags, that bore the label of chicken feed. Its value in the market is approximately Rs 19,44,750, police added.

The van has also been seized by the police.
