Kundal to be new J&K Chief Secretary

Srinagar, Oct 23 (UNI) Mr B R Kundal, a 1972-batch IAS officer, will be the new Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.

He will be the first scheduled caste IAS officer to assume the top post in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet approved the promotion of Mr Kundal as the new Chief Secretary, replacing Mr C Phunsog, who retires on November one this year.

The Cabinet, which met here today with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, ordered the promotion of Mr Kundal, at presentthe Financial Commissioner, Home.

He will take over the charge from Mr Phunsog on November 1.

After his superannuation, Mr Phunsog will serve as an Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir government.

In another order, Director Health Kashmir, Dr Muzaffar Ahmad has been promoted to super time scale of Rs 18400-22400.
