Kannada writer selected for Sahitya Prashasti award

Moodabidre, Oct 22 (UNI) Renowned psychiatrist and Kannada writer N D'Souza from Shimoga had been selected for the 27th 'Vardhamana Peeta Sahitya Prashasti 2006', instituted by Vardhamana Peeta for his Kannada novel 'Igarjiya Suttalu Hattu Manegalu.' Announcing the awards here today after the executive meeting of Peeta, Mogasale, the Director of the Peeta said the award carries a cash of Rs 5000, plaque and citation would be presented to the winner at the function here next month.

Dr Mogasale said 'Vardhamana Peeta Udayonmukha', (upcoming literary award) Sahitya Prashasti was awarded to Agrahara Krishnamurthy, the Secretary of Central Sahitya Academy for his book 'Neeru Mattu Preethi'. The best books for the awards were selected by a panel of judges comprising Madhav Kulkarni, Dr Kamala Hemmige and Vee Gaa Nayak, he added.
