Joint military op in JK will wipe out militancy: BJP
Jammu,
Oct
23:
The
BJP
today
suggested
India
and
Pakistan
should
conduct
joint
military
exercises
to
wipe
out
militancy
from
Jammu
and
Kashmir,
and
destroy
the
terrorist
training
camps
on
the
other
side
of
the
Line
of
Control
(LoC).
Talking
to
mediapersons
after
his
arrival
this
morning,
BJP
President
Rajnath
Singh
proposed
that
both
the
neighbouring
countries
should
carry
out
joint
military
operations
to
eradicate
terrorism
from
the
region.
He further asserted that if Pakistan had any apprehension, the military exercises could be conducted under the supervision of international agencies.
The BJP leader expressed his opposition to the demand for demilitarisation in strife-stricken Jammu and Kashmir, being raised from some political corners. He, however, emphasised the requirement for five to ten times more deployment of forces to check infiltration and restore peace in the state.
Owing to the infighting among the allies, Mr Singh said, ''Congress-led governments in Centre as well as in Jammu and Kashmir are on ventilators, and can fail any time.'' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said, ''should decide whether to continue or quit the office if he was not getting proper support of the alliance.''
