Jailed BSP MP produced in court in murder case

Jaunpur, Oct 23 (UNI) Jailed BSP MP from local Machhlishahr constituency Umakant Yadav, who was today produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate(CJM) court in a murder case, was remanded to judicial custody till November 3.

Official sources said CJM Ramkesh Singh remanded him to judicial custody after hearing the case. The MP was later sent to Jaunpur district prison.

Yadav was already lodged in Fatehgarh jail under the Gangster Act in a land grabbing case relating to Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the court ordered for a medical examination of the MP, since he had submitted an application claiming illness and seeking permission for treatment.

Kanhaiyya Yadav, the pradhan of Japtapur village in Khwaja Sarai area, was shot at and grievously wounded on August 24. He succumbed on September 3.

A case was registered against several persons, including the MP, who has been implicated as a conspirator in the murder.
