Indian Origin Parliamentarians visit India

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) A group of 16 Indian Origin Parliamentarians will be in India for a week from tomorrow.

Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari will inaugurate an intensive programme for the first batch of Indian Origin Parliamentarians from the United Kingdom, the European Parliament and the United States tomorrow.

Organised by the Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, the event is organised with a view to providing comprehensive presentations on different aspects on issues of concern and interest to the country.

''The objective behind such a programme is to provide the visiting Parliamentarians with up-to-date and detailed information on a canopic range of issues,'' official sources said here.

The group, which consists of 12 from the UK, three from the European Parliament and one from the US, would be in Delhi and Mumbai as part of the programme.

The Parliamentarians would call on the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on October 26. They would also participate in Indo-US CEO Forum to be inaugurated by the Finance Minister P Chidambaram on October 29 in Mumbai.

The Parliamentarians who would attend the programme are : UK-Lord Bhiku Parekh, The Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz, Lord Adam Patel, Baroness Sandip Verma, Lord Mohammed Sheikh, Lord Narendra Babubhai Patel, Baroness Usha Prashar, Lord Kamlesh Patel, Lord Karan Bilimoria, Lord Navnit Dholakia, Lord Diljit Rana and The Rt. Hon. Virender K.

Sharma.

European Parliament: Neena Gill, David Geerts and Claude Moraes.

United States of America: Swati Dandekar.
