Guj BJP seeks punitive action against congress leader

Ahmedabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Gujarat BJP today sought punitive action against AICC General Secretary and Gujarat affairs in-charge B K Hariprasad for his derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a public meeting in Valsad district.

In a complaint to the Election Commission of India, Gujarat BJP general secretary Jayantibhai Barot categorically stated that the derogatory remarks against Mr Modi by Mr Hariprasad were a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

At a public meeting at Dharamput in Valsad district on October 19, Mr Prasad had reportedly asked Mr Modi to find out about his parentage, which angered the BJP and invited condemnation from social and political activists.

Mr Barot has urged the EC to lodge an FIR against Mr Hariprasad for resorting to 'unethical practice', which is in contravention of the model code of conduct and amounts to a serious offence.

The BJP leader has also demanded that the EC that the Congress leader should disqualify from the election scenario with immediate effect.
