Every house to have power by 2012: Shinde

Jhajjar, Oct 23 (UNI) Union Power Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde today said electricity would be made available in every village of the country by 2009 and every house by 2012.

Mr Shinde stated this while addressing a public meeting after dedicating to the people 400/220 kv sub station at village Dabodha in the district today.

He said power was necessary for the development and progress and therfore it was impretative to generate more power in the country.

The Power Grid Corporation of India, he said, was doing good job in the distribution of power as it had a comprehensive network throughout the country and the power could reach one cornor to other cornor of the country without any obstacle.

Power Grid Corporation network had never failed and it was itself a record in the world, he added.

Mr Shinde said the Union Government had sanctioned four power grid stations at Panchkula, Sonepat, Fatehabad and Faridabad having the capacity of 400/220 MW.

Besides adequate financial assistance and technical know-how would be provided by the Centre for the construction of power plants in Haryana.

He said the Central government would request the Delhi Government to give the share of power to Haryana from the power substation being set up at Bawana in Delhi.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda asserted that power problem in the state was inherited by the governments from the previous government as during the last 40 years only 1587 MW of power had been generated.

He assured that during next three years 5000 MW additional power would be added in the power kitty of the state.
