Shimla, Oct 23 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Transport Department's special drive to implement metered taxi scheme in the state continued for the second day today with another 105 vehicles being challaned, an official spokesman said.

To implement the High Court order regarding taxi meter scheme, nine different teams issued spot tickets to 105 vehicles and collected a revenue of Rs 25,900 as fine, he said.

The spokesman said the drive would continue since the taxi owners had been given enough opportunity to install meters on their taxis by the transport department and the action was initiated after giving due opportunity and time to them.

The spokesman warned that action against violators would be taken in accordance with Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 which could even lead to cancellation of taxi operating permits.
