Congress to demonstrate demand for second language status to Bengali

Ranchi, Oct 23 (UNI) Demanding second language status for Bengali in Jharkhand, the women wing of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) will hold demonstrations in the Assembly premises here tomorrow.

JPCC women wing president Pratibha Pandey said here today that besides tomorrow's dharna in the Assembly premises, five similar agitations would be held at every district headquarter in November where memorandums would be submitted to the deputy commissioner concerned addressing Chief Minister Madhu Koda in this regard.

The party workers would stage a dharna near the Birsa Munda Chowk as well as at the Speaker's office tomorrow, Ms Pandey added.

They would also submit a memorandum to Speaker Alam Gir Alam in support of their demand.

Ms Pandey asserted that their demand must be met by November 15, the eighth foundation day of the state.

''I will hold a fast unto death from November 20 if the government fails to fulfill the demand,'' she added.
