Congress admits Somjibhai Damor

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Ahead of the Gujarat assembly elections, Mr Somjibhai Damor, a prominent tribal leader and former member of Parliament from the state, was today admitted to the Congress Party with immediate effect.

"His admission has been approved by Congress President Sonia Gandhi," AICC Geenral Secretary in charge of Organisation Janardhan Dwivedi said here today.

Mr Damor is the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad.

He is a seven-time MP from Gujarat. He contested seven Lok Sabha elections and won all of them.

He won assembly election also and was a member of the Council of Ministers in Gujarat.
