CCIC and BSTDC signs MOU to promote handicrafts

Patna, Oct 23 (UNI) Central Cottage Industries Corporation (CCIC) and Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) today signed an MoU to encourage local artisans and weavers by opening sales outlets in Patna, Bodh Gaya and Rajgir.

The MoU was signed by CCIC's Managing Director M A Ibrahimi and Ms Rashmi Verma, the Chairperson cum Managing Director of BSTDC in presence of state Tourism Minister Nand Kishore Yadav.

Later, Ms Verma said they would sale and promote handicrafts and handlooms articles produced across the country.

Mr Ibrahimi said the products to be sold will carry the logos of CCIC and BSTDC which are terracotta horse and ashokan pillar inscriptions respectively.

Tourism and Road Construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav said his department will open a training centre at Rathi village -the centre of Madhubani paintings, to train the villagers.

Mr Yadav also announced to start an emporium on the lines of ''Delhi haat'' at Bankipur in Patna to promote the artisans and the weaving community, adding the silk industry in Bhagalpur would also be given patronage.
