Assembly session: AIADMK criticises Pondy Govt
Puducherry, Oct 23 (UNI) AIADMK Puducherry Secretary A Anbazhagan, today lashed out at the state Congress government for convening the Winter Session of the territorial Assembly as just a ''formality,'' thereby violating all democratic norms.
Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that no action was taken on the party's demand to convene the Assembly at least for a week as many issues had to be discussed. Besides, his letter to the Speaker to convene the Business Advisory Committee to finalise the business to be taken up by the House was also ignored. Even the Legislators do not know the duration of the Winter Session, he charged.
Mr Anbazhagan said he had forwarded notices for seven calling attention motions, to be taken up during the Winter Session, on issues such as the deteriorating law and order situation, implications of VAT implementation, follow up action on the unanimous resolution adopted during the last budget session seeking to provide 13 per cent reservation for minorities and present status of the port project.
The party would express its displeasure on the functioning of the Government in the House tomorrow, he added.
