6 hurt in clash

Shajapur(MP), Oct 23 (UNI) Two policemen were among six people injured in a group clash over taking out a procession of Durga idol for immersion at Maksi in this district last night, police said.

Police resorted to lathicharge and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the violent mob, which indulged in stone-throwing. The injured were hospitalised.

The situation was under control. However, additional police personnel had been deployed as a precautionary measure, Superintendent of Police J P Ahirwar said today.

BJP leader Ravi Pande has lodged a complaint with police against 20 people, including Town Panchayat President and Congress leader Ramchandra Patel, charging them with rioting and assault, while a counter-complaint was also registered.
