17 feared drowned in boat accident in Khagaria
Khagaria, Oct 23 (UNI) At least 17 people were feared drowned when a boat carrying 24 passengers capsized in the receding flood waters of rivers Bagmati and Kareh near Pipra Naurang under Chautham police station here today.
Police Superintendent (Incharge) Aamir Javed said here the overloaded boat overturned when it was trying to cross the narrow canal developed on the damaged roads.
He said while seven people swam to safety, the rest were missing.
The boat was ferrying the people from Maheshkhut market to Naurang village.
Local divers had been pressed into service to fish out the bodies.
