Doda, Oct 23 (UNI) More than hundred people suffered burn injuries and at least 160 houses were damaged in a fire that broke out in a remote village of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police today said.

Reportedly, 160 houses were damaged in a devastating fire in Margie village of Warwan block in Marwah tehsil of Kishtwar last night, Superintendent of Police Mumtaz Ahmed told UNI.

Exact details about the incident were yet not available, because it had occurred in a remotely located village, which is about 25 km from Marwah which lacked transport communication, he said.

" We have dispatched a rescue team to the village. As it is close to Anantnag (in Kashmir region), we have also appealed to the authorities there to provide help to the affected population," the police officer said.

Help from nearby army units has also been sought, he informed.
