Two Hizb, one Al Badr militants nabbed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 22 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have averted possible attacks in the summer capital and its peripheries by arresting two Hizbul Mujahideen and one Al Badr militants from different places in the city.

Some arms and ammunition have also been seized from the possession of the apprehended militants, police added.

They said an Al Badr militant was arrested near Naaz crossing here. He has been identified as Mohammed Ameek Bhat alias Abu Sawariya, a resident of Hard Handoo in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police added. Two grenades were seized from his possession.

In another incident, acting on specific information, police conducted surprise security check at Natipora and arrested two Hizbul Mujahideen militants.

The two have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Wani alias Tariq, a resident of Lalpora, Tangmarg in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, and Manzoor Ahmed Lone alias Kashif alias Doctor, a resident Zangam of Pattan also of Baramulla district.

Two hand grenades and one pistol with loaded magazine were seized from the possession of the apprehended militants.

Police said while Wani is an ''A'' category militant, Lone is in B'' category.

The arrests have come as a huge success for the police because the militants were planning to carry out attacks in the summer capital and its surroundings, they added.
