Tax on hospital equipments to come down

Palakkad, Oct 22 (UNI) Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac today said the tax on hospital equipments, generators and computers would be reduced to four per cent from the present 12.5 per cent.

He said this while addressing newspersons here on ''Corruption Free Walayar'' project.

Mr Issac said the project, started on August 7, had helped in checking corruption and mafia at the Walayar check post.

He said five weighing machines would be installed in Walayar in a month and by February the check post would also get a scanner.

Stating that the Government would take stern action against the iron and steel companies in Palakkad which evaded tax, he said notices have been served on the companies for realising Rs 24 crore as tax and penalty.
