Sugar prices slip again on larger stock arrivals

Navi Mumbai, Oct 22 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices drifted lower for the fourth consecutive day today, owing to heavy offers by stockists in view of larger arrivals of stocks from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.

Prices of small and medium grades (per quintal) declined by Rs 10 and Rs five respectively on lack of fresh bulk consumers demand.

Sugar in ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also crashed by Rs 25 and Rs 15 respectively owing to poor buying support, traders added.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,350/1,406, Medium grade: Rs 1,400/1,500.

Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,325/1,360, Medium grade: Rs 1,385/1440.
