Shanimol demands inquiry into death of nuns

Kottayam, Oct 22 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress President Shanimol Usman today demanded an inquiry into the death of two nuns of the Fathima Matha Convent at Nagampadam here.

The nuns were killed when hollow bricks from a neighbouring multi-storeyed building under construction fell on them yesterday.

Addressing a news conference, she alleged that the convent authorities had lodged a complaint against the construction of the building in violation of the rules and had even stayed the work.

However, work was resumed following political intervention this year, she claimed and demanded an inquiry into the incident.

She also said that a Mahila Congress convention would be held at Thiruvananthapuram on October 26. The meet would also discuss the problems of women, she added.
