Sankararaman murder case hearing deferred to Nov 26
Puducherry, Oct 22 (UNI) A local court today posted the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, to November 26 for further hearing.
Sixteen of the 24 accused, including the Acharyas, failed to turn up before the Puducherry Principal District and Sessions court when the case came up for hearing and separate petitions citing the reason for their absence were filed by their counsels.
The Supreme Court had stayed the conduct of the case in the Union Territory, on a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the defence, objecting to the continued appearance of the Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutor even after the case was transferred to here.
The case could not be conducted as the SLP was pending before the apex court.
