Pak Govt rejects PPP demand for foreign probe in Karachi blast

Islamabad, Oct 22 (UNI) Pakistan Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has outrightly rejected the demand of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto for probing the deadly October 19 blast by foreign experts.

The demand was rejected on the ground that earlier suicide attacks on President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was investigated by internal agencies.

''Our investigation teams and security agencies are fully capable of conducting investigation into the Karachi blasts and the political parties should have trust and confidence in our own investigation and security agencies,'' said the Interior Minister.

Sherpao said the government will has directed the provincial government to conduct the investigation in a professional and objective manner.

When asked about the alleged involvement of Al-Qaeda in the Karachi carnage as well involvement of 'three' named by the Former Premier Benazir Bhutto the minister refused to comment, reported APP.

Earlier Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto has asked to enrope foreign investigators to probe the Karachi balst where 139 people lost their lives.

To a question, Interior Minister Sherpao said the government has chalked out code of ethics regarding the political activities in the country.

''The government has decided to impose ban on processions and political rallies in the country, but political meetings would be allowed at specified places,'' added Mr Sherpao.

He denied any government plans regarding banning political campaigns and curbing of political actvities in the name of security.
