One arrested for desecrating Ambedkar's statue

Bhopal, Oct 22 (UNI) Police have arrested a dalit, who desecrated the statue of father of Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar near a slum in Bagmugalia area of the state capital this morning.

Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh said a case had been registered against Bhola Prasad Ahirwar for desecrating the statue and others for rioting.

''On receiving information about desecration of the statue by Bhola in drunken stupor, angry locals gathered outside his house in order to target him,'' he said.

However, police controlled the situation.

He said the district administration had decided to install a new statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at the place.
